Topleo i96 Pro S905X4 TV Box Review
Topleo is one of the manufacturers we don’t hear much about but produces a lot of TV boxes for various brands. The Topleo i96 Pro comes in various configurations on the Amlogic S905X4 and even the Amlogic S905X3 CPUs. It comes in two RAM configurations of 2GB/4 GB DDR three, and 16GB/32GB/6 GB/128GB eMMc internal storage configurations. The reason you have not seen or heard of them on Amazon or other retail stores, it’s because they are only found on Alibaba.
In this version of the i96 Pro it runs on the Amlogic S905X4 CPU on 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage on Android 11 operating systems. This version of Android 11 is the mobile version and it features root access and a new launcher3 have not seen before. It does however suffer from design issues and Open GAPPS version limitations and showed up in its performance benchmarks.

Topleo i96 Pro Hardware Specs
Its manufacturer is Droidlogic and it has 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also a 2GB/16GB, a 4GB/64GB, and a 4GB/128GB model.
Its Bluetooth version is 4.1. Its Amlogic S905X4 quad-core CPU is an ARM cortex A55 CPU clocked at 2.0GHz configured in 32bit mode which means it can only run 32bit apps and games.
For display and graphics, the GPU component of the SOC is the Mali G31 graphics processor with open GL ES version 3.2 support. The GPU also has Vulkan version 1.1 support. It has 5GHz dual band Wi-Fi support., and its operating system is Android 11 red velvet cake and this firmware is rooted. For cooling it uses a 3mm cooling pad between the CPU and the 1 ½ inches-wide heatsink which sees it idle around 65°C in the absence of cooling vents.
For decoders it comes with Dolby Atmos Dolby vision DTS HD AV1 HEVC and VP9 decoders. These decoders facilitate the playback of 4K HDR Dolby vision and AV1 videos. And videos with Dolby and DTS surround sound formats.
i96 Pro I/O Ports
Its design and connecting ports consist of one HDMI input one RJ-45 Ethernet LAN port, one optical audio port, one AV port, an IR extender port, and the DC power input to its rear.
To the side it has one USB 3.0 port one USB 2.0 and a microSD card reader. At the front it has an LED display. Below the box there are no ventilation holes.
Firmware features
This firmware offers features such as 4K display up to 59.94 Hz. HDR display with the option to set it to adaptive HDR this means that it only activates when you play an HDR video.
It has HDMI CEC options. Surround sound audio options, and 54 various languages to choose from.

Final Thoughts
Even though am pleased with the hardware used the in this model and its performance in the streaming movies and TV shows, the idea of having a housing with no ventilation holes was not a good one as it results in overheating and throttling during gaming. The launcher on the other hand is a bit of a disappointment to me with no shortcuts bar and no navigation bar or status bar. You do however have the option to use an alternative launcher, its 4K video playback is a very good, its gaming performance is also good despite temperatures rising, and you can use alternative streaming movie apps for free streams of movies and TV shows.
