The TOX1 Android TV Box by SZBOX comes at a time when there is a need for something new no matter how small it is in the TV box industry. For later part of 2020 we have been moving in a backwards direction in terms of hardware improvement, after the stellar performance from the Ugoos line of TV boxes. Since then we have had to bear the frustration of all the low performance Allwinner boxes. Just when we thought there were no more improvements the the S905X3 line of boxes, here comes the TOX1 doing two things different than its counterparts. The first thing it presents a simple but sensible approach to its housing design, by simply adding cooling vents to the top and base. The second improvement is that it’s firmware now includes Dolby true HD digital surround sound audio output. More than that it has almost all the features seen in Ugoos boxes such as, root switch, hardware monitor, Samba server, and many others. I applaud the TOX1 for these small improvements as it sheds some light on an almost stagnant TV box industry.

This is simply the best TV box I have seen in a long time. There are some would say what’s so special about it it has the same hardware as most S905X3 models, but it’s the little things they have implemented in this box that makes all the difference. For me the housing design and the inclusion of Dolby true HD audio output is a game changer in this model. You also have to take into account the price you are paying for all the features we have seen in top high end models such as those from the Ugoos line. So I highly recommend the TOX1 as a great TV box for the price. The cons in this box are insignificant, only if you value Netflix and Amazon prime video in HD and 4K quality. You can always buy a quality wireless AirMouse to replace the stock IR remote into this box.
