What’s Inside the We2USAT K3 Pro Box?
When you open the package, you get everything needed to start right away. It includes the K3 Pro TV box, a Bluetooth voice remote, an HDMI cable, a 5V 2A power adapter, and a user manual. The manual offers minimal guidance, so you’ll learn best by exploring or asking questions online.
The box itself has a basic plastic build. On top, the We2USAT logo is prominently displayed. Meanwhile, on the back, you’ll find an HDMI port, optical audio, AV port, Ethernet LAN, and the power input. Additionally, the side features two USB 2.0 ports and a microSD card reader. The front features a power light and LED display, while the bottom includes rubber feet, vents, and mounting holes.
Setting Up the K3 Pro Is Simple
Setup takes just a few minutes. First, power on the box. Then, press and hold the OK and Volume Down buttons on the remote to pair it. The LED light will flash, and the box connects to the remote automatically.
A startup wizard guides you through basic settings. You’ll also see a disclaimer from We2USAT. It clearly states that the box comes without third-party streaming apps. Users must install apps themselves and ensure they follow copyright laws in their region.
After connecting to Wi-Fi, the box checks for a firmware update. It found one during this test and installed it without issues.
The We2USAT K3 Pro Interface and Features
The box uses the ATV launcher, which is clean and easy to use. It shows all installed apps and includes a system cleanup tool. However, later tests flagged this tool as unsafe, which we’ll cover in the security section.
The K3 Pro runs on Android 10. It supports 4K 2160p at 60Hz, Auto HDR, HDMI CEC, and screen rotation. You can also choose startup apps, assign remote hotkeys, lock applications, and change launchers.
The built-in Google Assistant works well. You can use it for voice searches or smart home commands like “Office lights on.”
Security and Malware Scan Results
We initially tested the system with Bitdefender and DefSquid antivirus apps. Subsequently, Bitdefender flagged the cleanup tool as unsafe. Afterward, we removed the tool, and as a result, both apps confirmed the device was clean.
The K3 Pro includes Google Widevine L1 DRM and HDCP 2.2, which allow high-definition streaming. It’s not rooted, but it lacks an official Netflix ESN license. However, with a modified version, you can stream Netflix in 1080p HD, assuming you have a valid subscription.
Hardware Specs and Performance
The Allwinner H313/H616 quad-core processor powers the device. It runs at 1.5 GHz, paired with 4GB DDR4 RAM, 32GB storage, and Bluetooth 5.0. The Mali-G31 GPU handles graphics but lacks Vulkan support, which limits gaming and advanced playback.
The box doesn’t support AV1 decoding or true surround sound formats. It plays HDR10, but can’t properly decode HDR10+, HLG, or Dolby Vision. All HDR content plays as HDR10 only.
YouTube works at 1080p HD, but it doesn’t offer HDR playback. When playing HDR videos, the system defaults to HDR10, regardless of the original format. Audio passthrough supports DTS Virtual X, but not Dolby Atmos. Without passthrough, you’ll only hear basic PCM audio.
Gaming? Not Really
The We2USAT K3 Pro wasn’t made for gaming; in fact, the CPU lacks the power needed for heavy titles. As a result, games display low frame rates, and furthermore, the absence of Vulkan support contributes to additional lag. It works fine for light apps, but don’t expect smooth gameplay.
