The S10 runs on 64bit version of Android 7.1 with root access. The launcher is simple and easy to use with large buttons and the ability to add shortcuts to the launcher. It comes with a navigation bar at the top for easy navigation and multitasking. However, there is no status bar at the top. The S10 comes with the following pre-installed apps.

  • App-installer
  • Chrome browser
  • Media Center
  • Miracast
  • Netflix
  • Google Play Store
  • Movie player

I experienced some unstable operation upon starting up for the first time, there was some auto updating taking place in the background and the box restarted itself a couple of times. The box also freezes at times when temperatures rise or multitasking many apps.

 Benchmark Scores

  • Antutu – 41812
  • Geekbench4 – 489 Single / 1999 Multi
  • Ice Storm Extreme – 5516
  • WiFi Speed – Average
  • RAM Copy- 3870 MB/s
  • ROM Speed – 62MB/s

Final Thoughts

The S10 has the potential to be a great TV box, but the firmware needs to be revisited, to deal with the status bar issue, the freezing problem, and the compatibility issue with key-mapping applications.  Other than that, the hardware is good, the design restricts airflow and passive cooling is needed. See passive cooling fan here.
