Transpeed X4 TV Box Premium Features

Transpeed X4 TV Box TV Box Review

There is a new type of TV box in town running on a type of hybrid firmware and the Transpeed X4 TV Box is one such model to adopt this new style of firmware. Why it’s called a hybrid firmware, is due to the fact that its core operating system is Android 11 TV OS, and it has the Android TV version of the play store to go it. However, it’s launcher and user interface has all the features of a firmware use the on the mobile version of Android use on TV boxes.

Together with this hybrid firmware comes with a features found in premium models such as Ugoos and A95X boxes. With features such as root switch, hardware monitor, adaptive HDR, navigation bar and status bar, and CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz. This TV Box delivers all these great features at half the price of what you would pay for a high-end model.

Transpeed X4 Hardware

The Transpeed X4 is one of the same model as the RBOX X4S however there are two things different in this model than the RBOX model . The first one is that its Bluetooth 4.1 feature works perfectly and I made sure I tested it up to 10m and it was stable. The other difference is that it has a gigabit LAN port whereas the RBOX model that not. What remained the same is its Amlogic S905X4 CPU is clocked at 2.0 GHz, its 4GB of DDR3 RAM, it’s Mali G31 GPU has Vulkan support with open GL ES version 3.2, and it has dual band Wi-Fi.

X4 I/O Ports

  • 1 HDMI
  • 1 USB 3.0
  • 1 USB 2.0
  • 1 RJ45 GB LAN 1000Mbps
  • 1 AV
  • 1 Optical Audio
  • 1 Micro SD

Transpeed X4 Features

In my last video in the RBOX model I made sure to mention on numerous points in the video that the boxes interface was a very fast. The same applies for this box only to discover that the speed of the interface has nothing to do with its CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz, but instead the adjusting of the animation speed in the developer options.

Some of the special features of this Transpeed X4 that stands out when compared to other medium class boxes is the fact that it has some of the features only seen in more premium models such as Ugoos and A95X. Features such as a root switch, hardware monitor feature, adaptive HDR, Vulkan support, and in unique to this model is the hybrid firmware where its base operating system is Android 11 TV OS, and it has launcher features seen in the mobile versions.

Cons

As for the cons it’s the usual now DRM support to play premium movie services in HD and 4K. Its Wi-Fi speeds are below average, it does not have the screen orientation to portrait mode, it’s missing audio formats such as a DTS X, DTS HD-MA, and Dolby TrueHD. It overheats during the gameplay and it requires a cooling fan, and it does not have split screen feature.

Final thoughts

With the Transpeed X4 I have no issues recommending this TV box as it’s one of the better TV boxes on the market today. It offers great performance with premium features, that most TV Box enthusiasts usually need.

  1. Hello,
I am really interested to buy Transpeed X4 tv box. I’ll be using box for movie streaming only. But some buyers of this box say it’s overheating during 4K movie streaming too, not just gaming. From your valuable review you’ve mentioned it’s overheating only in gaming. Do you have any additional thoughts, is it cooling fan mandatory for using this box for movie streaming only (I don’t like to have temperatures at 90 degrees C)? Are there any comparable alternatives to this box (rooted, android 11, AV & SPDIF out)?

    • I will have to agree with the other buyers about the overheating during 4K video playback. June streaming movies and TV shows you will not get that issue, but as soon as you start tasking it GPU with 4K HDR and 3D gaming temperature starts to rise.
The reason for this is the ventilation holes below the box are two tiny, that’s right as soon as you put a cooling fan on it temperatures remain stable no matter what activities you engage in.

      • Thank you for your comment. What android TV box do you suggest to be more cooler (without the use of cooling fan)? Preferably Android 11, rooted, AV & SPDIF out, not Google certified. Is maybe Tanix X4 beter in this regard (since A95x F4 is not rooted and too hot)? The other alternative (with lower spec S905w2) is maybe Tanix TX3 mini+?

          • Hello, I’ve finally bought Transpeed X4 with GB LAN afterall. The device is capable and by the way not overheating with 4k HDR movies (it’s in 60-65 degrees C range). What bothers me is I am unable to connect it to PC with USB A-A cable (it’s quality 3.0 cable) since I would like to update to firmware to latest (I hope they’ve fixed some bugs). The computer doesn’t recognize the box. Do you have any suggestions how to connect the box to the PC? Thank you for your reply.
