T95Z Plus Android 12 4K TV Box Review

T95Z Plus TV Box Review

The T95Z Plus is another recent TV Box model out of the factory that manufactures the Allwinner chipset. This model is running on their latest chipset built on the Allwinner H618 quad-core CPU on the latest Android 12 operating system. At the sound of these features one would be excited and looking to get their hands on a latest Android box running on the latest version of Android. However, with all due respect to the brands selling these models in various retail stores such as Amazon and AliExpress, the factory or manufacturers of the Allwinner chipset have tried their best to develop these boxes on their chipset which having to tweak the performance of their CPU to quell the issue of overheating.

In my opinion it bothers me when I continuously have to speak negatively about any manufacturer in the industry as I would love to see all manufacturers compete at a high level, which in turn gives customers better choices and at the same time the best prices. That is why I believe it’s my responsibility to point out, and at times callout manufacturers that don’t listen, or care to listen to reviewers and customers interested in their models. The biggest issue I have with the Allwinner chipset is overheating, and from my experience the issue of overheating is solved by adequate sized heatsink or active cooling fan on the CPU.

Instead of applying the necessary size of heatsink which would allow them to clock the CPUs at a minimum of 1.8 GHz, instead to maintain safe operating temperatures the lowered the clock speed to 1.4 GHz. At this speed you still have borderline overheating and low benchmarks. I think it will serve them better to include what is needed for a good high-performance chipset and past the price on to the consumer, because I don’t think the consumer will have a problem paying for a box if they know it can deliver on a great user experience. As TV Box review was an enthusiast we long for chipsets to perform at high levels because it does well for the industry, and it’s a bit frustrating when asked to review their models.

Final thoughts

The T95Z Plus I would recommend  mainly for watching movies and TV shows from alternative streaming such as Kodi and streaming APKs. You can install subscription services but they will be restricted to 480p due to the lack of DRM support. if you intend to play games on it as I mentioned in the video please apply a cooling fan, as prolonged gaming can overheat its CPU which in turn will shorten the lifespan of the box.
