Sunvell H3 TV Box Review
I saw this Sunvell H3 Allwinner TV box and decided to order it because they produced great TV boxes in the past, the price was cheap and the CPU which is an Allwinner CPU has been known to deliver good performance in other boxes like the Zidoo H6. However, that Allwinner CPU is a lower model and gave me some results that I am not please with. In this review you will see why I am making this statement and results I got in the video review.
The specs here are very basic, it runs on the Allwinner H3 quad core A7 32bit CPU running up to 1.008GHz. The GPU is the ARM Mali 400MP running up to 750MHz. It comes with 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. It has single band 2.4GHz WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.1. looking at these specs here the spoiler is the CPU speed, the single band WiFi, and the GPU speed. These specs already spells performance issues for this box.
- 1 HDMI
- 2USB 2.0
- 1 RJ54 LAN
- 1 SD Card Reader
- 1 AV port
- 1 DC power input
The user interface it the same Sunvell interface they have used in previous boxes, but they have modified it a bit and made it more attractive. The launcher comes with a navigation bar and status bar for multitasking which is good. You have the ability to add shortcuts to the launcher. In the apps section you don’t get much preinstall apps but you do get Netflix, Kodi, YouTube, Miracast and the Google play store. The Sunvell H3 is rooted out of the box and you can remove and install any app you like, no app is locked in the root of the box. The box comes with DRM Google widevine L3 support and no HDCP encryption. This prevents Netflix from playing in 4K and HD quality.
- Antutu – 16434
- GeekBench 4 – 332 single-core 528 multi-core
- Ice storm Extreme – 1822
- RAM copy – 11232 MB/s
- ROM Speed – R 20MB/s W 12MB/s
- WiFi Speed – poor
- LAN – 60% of max speed
Using this box I cannot say that my experience was good. Netflix played in 420p quality, I was expecting at least 720p. The benchmark scores are a painful to look at. The 4K video playback has lots of issues. The 3D gaming was of a low quality and graphics rendering is very challenging for this box. So what can you do with this box? well Kodi works well and movie streaming APKs and that’s about it. You are better off using LAN connection for Internet, and provide adequate ventilation for this box as it tends to get a bit hot.
