H96 Mini Allwinner H6 TV Box Review

To see the first 128GB TV box was really exciting, and in the second half of 2019 we were presented with the H96 Mini Allwinner H6 6K Android 9 TV box. I have worked with Allwinner boxes in the past, and in their early inclination produced some of the top boxes in the industry. In other instances I have seen great potential in their hardware, but they somehow in recent time have fallen short in the area of heat management drastically reducing their ability to compete in high-end TV box race, as throttling became a dark cloud that seem to be always hanging over their boxes. In this new model I was very optimistic that they had gotten it right, as they ushered in a new era of TV boxes with 128Gb of internal storage. Well some might say as an experienced reviewer I was being naive and wasting my time, but I have have hope that they can return to their glory days.

Conclusion

I saw a genuine effort by H96 and Allwinner to release good model which part really is. The box is functional and able to carry out many of the basic functions of a TV Box. So if you looking to get this but due to its low price then know that it is a budget TV box and it has some drawbacks. Well the overheating problem still exist, so a cooling fan is recommend. The CPU is clocked low at 1.4GHz. It has no navigation bar and status bar so you have to install your own. Netflix and Amazon prime video play but only up 480p quality due to lack of DRM support. 4K videos played Ok but 6K video did not play. It does not have Dolby Atmos and DTS audio features. 2018 hardware used.
