Mecool KM8 Android 8.0 TV Box Overview
Here we are again with another new Android 8.0 TV box release called the Mecool KM8 Amlogic S905X Quad Core 4K TV Box. This box comes with some new features that previous boxes didn’t have to allow you that total Android 4K experience.
First let’s look at the hardware. Actually there isn’t anything new about the hardware used in this box that we haven’t seen before. It runs on the Amlogic S905X quad core CPU with support for the penta core ARM Mali 450 GPU. It has 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. It 802.11 24GHz WiFi and Ethernet LAN 100Mbps LAN speed. Now that’s some good standard hardware specs right there, enough to deliver a movie and TV show streaming , along with 4K video playback and 3D gaming.
The Mecool KM8 runs on Android TV 8.0 operating. Why Android TV? Well Android unlike the full version of Android has features for 4K video playback, YouTube in 4K quality, and DRM support to allow Netflix to show in HD quality. We have seen in the Mecool M8S Pro L TV box where the box has DRM Google Widevine Level1 and Microsoft playready support, and the box was rooted. I have no reason to believe that in this box it will be no different. Another great feature of the KM8 is the voice remote feature. The box comes with it’s own Bluetooth voice remote control which allow you to search Google and perform some basic commands on the box.
This box is going to a solid Android TV box that is going to allow you to watch Netflix in 4K, 4K videos at 60fps, play YouTube videos in 4K quality, and play Android games.
