The V7 is a standard Amlogic S912 octa core TV box. Where it has shown that most of these boxes has the same performance, it has also been proven that with advanced optimization a TV box can perform much better than the others. So these are the specs:

  • Amlogic S912 8X CPU 1.5 GHz
  • ARM Mali T820 Tri Core GPU
  • 3GB DDR3 RAM
  • 32GB eMMc flash ROM

WeChip V7 Software

The WeChip V7 runs on Android 7.1 .1 Nougat that’s rooted. You have full access to the GooglePlay Store. When it comes to streaming, the box comes with Netflix and the KD player. The KD player is a Custom Kodi build which is Kodi 17.3 which is not the updated version. In the video review I was able to  uninstall the KD player version and install the latest Kodi 17.5 version. If you have a custom version you would like to install you can side-load it with the app-installer application.

The box comes with root access, however, my key-mapping and mirroring applications failed to work, but it does work with all Bluetooth wireless game-pads and mini touch-pad keyboards.

For other Streaming options you are free to download and install a number of free movie streaming services via APK downloads like Terraium TV, ShowBox, MegaBoxHD, ZionTV, MobDro, and countless others.

When it came to gaming I was able to play lots of games on this device, however, the V7 is not a gamer like the RK3399 boxes so don’t try to use it to that extent, play games it can handle.

Conclusion

So this is my first WeChip TV box review with the WeChip V7. I must say they did OK compared to some other TV box that failed upon first launch. The WeChip V7 like most other TV boxes has its pro and cons. For instance for pros th box is rooted, it has 3GB RAM and 32GB Rom. Its benchmarks were OK, some even higher than usual. Streaming is great, and the box has a great look. The launcher has a navigation bar and it runs on the latest Android 7.1 nougat operating system.

For the cons, the WiFi speeds results were not that high, it played 4K videos, but some of them had some difficulty playing. The box is rooted, but keymapping applications has some issues with the root access. It can play games but the graphics rendering is not the best. The box runs a bit hot due to lack of ventilation holes.
