Tanix TX3 Mini TV Box Review
The Tanix TX3 Mini TV Amlogic S905W TV Box is a TV box I decided to feature to try and strike the right balance between high end TV boxes and budget TV boxes. Many people complain about TV boxes being priced too high, so I selected a budget TV box for those on a tight budget. In this review, I’ll go through its hardware and features, put it through some benchmarks tests to see if it is worth your time and money.
TX3 Mini Hardware
The TX3 mini being a budget TV box comes with some basic set of hardware. it runs on the Amlogic S905W CPU, running up to 1.2 GHz. This CPU is an older model even to the S905X that runs up to 1.5 GHz. The GPU is the ARM Mali 450 MP GPU, and the MP with no number indicates that it is a single core model not the 5 core model. It comes with 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. It comes with single band 2.4GHz WiFi, and it does not have Bluetooth support. This does not mean that wireless Bluetooth controller like air mouse and game-pads will not work. These devices will work as the receiver and the device generates their own wireless signals.
Well the Tanix TX3 Mini comes with a basic set of IO ports. You get 1 HDMI, 2 USB 2.0, 1 RJ45 Ethernet LAN, 1 optical audio, 1 AV port.
The Tanix TX3 mini runs on a rooted version of Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. Its interface has a very simple design with large buttons and the option the add shortcuts to the launcher. The Launcher comes with a status bar at the top, and a navigation bar at the bottom for easy navigation. The box comes with its normal set of core system apps and additional apps like Google play store, Miracast, and Kodi
- Antutu – 25621
- GeekBench4 – 508 single-core 1383 multi-core
- 3D Mark Ice Storm extreme – 3555
- RAM copy – 2342 MB/s
- Internal Memory – 52 MB/s read 29 MB/s write
- SD Card – 16 MB/s read 12 MB/s write
- WiFi Speed – fair
OK so I’ll start off by saying that the Tanix TX3 mini was built as a low budget Android 7.1 TV box mainly for streaming movies and TV shows. Lots of people would like to start on a low cost TV box to see if they like the world of streaming. If you are looking for high benchmarks and fast graphics performance this is NOT the box for you. If you only want to stream movies then this box might be a good option.
