Zidoo X9S Realtek RTD 1295 Quad Core Android 6.0 Overview
Now every once in a while, someone creates something that changes and raises the bar to a new heights. The Zidoo X9S Realtek RTD 1295 Quad Core Android 6.0 TV box has done this, by adding some new hardware features never seen before in TV boxes. Let’s take a look at its new features.
The first new change is the CPU, where most of the high end TV boxes would run on the Amlogic S905X or S912, the Zidoo X9S sports the Realtek RTD1295 ARM Cortex-A53 Quad-Core with floating-point unit and NEON SIMD engine embedded. This CPU is a Quad Core CPU running up to 1.4GHz, and it has support for the latest video codecs and GPU.
The Graphics GPU
Which brings us to the next new hardware is its GPU. The Zidoo X9S display is powered by the ARM Mali T820 Tri Core GPU with speeds of up t0 750MHz. ARM states that the T820 is equal in performance to the Octa Core Mali 450, and in some instances may exceed expectations. Combined with the S912 CPU you get video support of HDR, 10-bit HEVC/H.265 up to 4K @ 60fps, VP9 up to 4K @ 60 fps, H.264 up to 4K @ 24 fps, automatic frame rate switching.
Memory and Storage
The Zidoo X9S comes with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of eMMC internal storage. However you are not limited to 16GB of internal storage. With the advent of Android 6.0 you now have the ability to convert external storage to internal storage via the SD card slot (32GB Max), USB, or SATA cable. Which brings me to the next new feature, the Zidoo X9S comes with an external SATA 3.0 port for connecting SSDs or HDDs up to 1TB via SATA data and power cable.
As we move along the Zidoo X9S comes with enhanced WiFi connectivity, it comes with 802.11 Dual Band wireless AC 2.4GHz + 5.8GHz connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0. It also comes with standard RJ45 Ethernet connection 10/100/1000Mbps.
The Zidoo X9S comes with a feature that no other TV box has, this feature is dual HDMI ports with one being an input, and the other the output. This new HDMI input allows you to connect another TV box or HDMI device and record video like a DVR. With the enhanced storage options you can record hours of video from another device.
Dual Operating System
And finally the Zidoo X9S runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow alongside another operating system called OpenWRT (NAS). It comes preinstalled with Kodi 16.1 and preinstalled with movie addons for your enjoyment. If you have paid subscriptions like Netflix and other they will all run the Zidoo X9S as it is rooted.
