Digibox D3 Plus First Impressions
When you power up the Digibox D3 Plus, you’ll see a stylish boot animation. The device pairs seamlessly with its Bluetooth remote, guiding you through a startup wizard. However, a key disclaimer reminds users to install applications responsibly and adhere to regional laws.
Once the setup is complete, you’ll land on the Digibox Launcher. The launcher stands out with dynamic multi-wallpaper backgrounds and a convenient shortcut bar. Additionally, system functions and additional settings are easily accessible at the top. Consequently, a quick Internet connection triggers a launcher update, ensuring optimal performance.
Live TV and VOD Apps
The Digibox D3 Plus is built to deliver live TV channels and video-on-demand movies. However, due to legal considerations, I won’t be demonstrating these apps directly here. But don’t worry—I’ve got you covered.
To explore these apps, follow these steps:
- First, access the APK app store from the device’s app section. (This uses a numbering transition to indicate the order of steps)
- Next, install the apps via an external link. (This uses a time-based transition to show the sequence)
Available apps include: Cat TV, Cat VOD, Cat Back, Cat Hot, and Koala TV. (This simply introduces additional information)
Want to see them in action? Visit Odysee.com, search for my channel (TV Box Stop), and find the video titled 2024 Digibox D3 Plus. There, you’ll see a detailed demo. (This uses a question transition to introduce a new action – watching a demo)
Digibox D3 Plus Hardware and Firmware Features

- Firstly, it supports a 4K display with up to 60Hz refresh rate and HDR10.
- Additionally, it offers auto frame rate switching for smooth transitions.

- However, while it includes portrait mode, this feature is currently non-functional.
- Finally, it delivers immersive audio experiences with Dolby Atmos and DTS passthrough when connected to an AV receiver.
System Specifications
The Allwinner H313/616 processor, a quad-core Cortex A53 chip clocked at 1.5 GHz in 32-bit mode, powers the device. Furthermore, graphics are handled by a Mali G31 GPU with Vulkan support.
The device is equipped with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage, ensuring smooth performance and ample space.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 (dual-band) and Bluetooth 5.0.
On the multimedia front, the device supports HEVC, H.264, and VP9 video codecs. However, it lacks support for AV1 and Dolby Vision.
Lastly, in terms of digital rights management, the device features Widevine Level 3 DRM, limiting Netflix streaming to 480p resolution.
Digibox D3 Plus Performance Tests
Benchmark Results – Ranking chart here
I ran multiple benchmarks to test performance. Furthermore, the RAM copy speed was impressive at 2916 MB/s. Additionally, storage speeds were measured at 77 MB/s for reading and 78 MB/s for writing. In terms of processor performance, Geekbench 5 scores were 111 for single-core and 379 for multi-core tasks. Finally, the 3DMark Wild Life benchmark yielded a score of 124, indicating a low frame rate of 0.74 fps.
These results confirm the device handles basic tasks well but isn’t ideal for high-performance gaming.
Internet Speeds
With a 315 Mbps Internet connection, the Digibox D3 Plus delivered:
- 5 GHz Wi-Fi: ~96 Mbps
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi: ~38 Mbps
- Ethernet LAN: ~95 Mbps (non-gigabit port)
Video and Audio Playback
The Digibox D3 Plus excels in HDR10 playback but lacks support for AV1, Dolby Vision, or HLG. While its internal decoders don’t support advanced surround formats, audio passthrough enables Dolby Atmos, DTS Neural X, and Dolby Digital Plus when connected to compatible receivers.
Final Thoughts
The Digibox D3 Plus is a strong contender in the live TV and VOD space. In addition, it’s competitively priced at $280 and offers significant improvements over its predecessor. While the Allwinner chipset limits its gaming potential, it shines in video playback and streaming.
In addition to being budget-friendly, this box also offers versatile entertainment options. You can find purchase links in the video description on my channel.
