Scishion V99 Hero Android TV Box

Scishion V99 Hero Review and Benchmarks

The Scishion V99 Hero Rockchip 3368 octa core Android 5.1 4K TV Box, is a TV box that strikes  me  as an unfinished TV box. It appears almost like a future TV box that went down the wrong software line in the factory, and ended up with out of date programming. In this review, you will see great potential, as well as great disappointment.

Hardware

The Scishion V99 Hero has great hardware specs. It runs on the Rockchip 3368 octa core CPU running up to 1.5GHz. Its display, is powered by the single core PowerVR Rogue G6110 GPU running up to 750MHz. I comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. It comes with 802.11 dual band 2.4GHz + 5.8GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. It has Ethernet LAN speed of up to 1000Mbps.

Software

The Scishion V99 Hero has old outdated software. It runs on Android 5.1 operating system, with Kodi 16.1 Jarvis installed. However, the box is rooted, and the interface moves smoothly. On the down side certain 4K videos won’t run on this box, and if you updated Kodi the latest version, it moves slow and lagging, clearly a firmware update is needed.

Gaming

I ran one game on the Scishion V99 Hero and it ran really smooth with high graphics, and you can download Key mapping apps, and any game you like from the Google play store with the provided root access.

Conclusion

Like I said in the video, something is wrong with the way they choose to program this box. The hardware can easily take Android 7.0 and still have specs to perform at a high rate. So am I  recommending this TV box? the answer is NO, at least until they upgrade the firmware.

  1. I’m using mine now primarily to watch one IPTV app, my Netflix,Amazon,Hulu,PBS etc. I watch on my Roku or my Vizio TV apps. I’d like to upgrade the firmware for this thing and I have a USB SD card with all the correct software ready to go, I just cannot find the bloody reset button! There is no “AV Port” as the manual instructs, unless they mean the HDMI port? I’m confused–do I have to open the box to find the reset button? I have searched/googled relentlessly and just keep getting steered back to the same bloody pages. I’m about ready to buy a new box and send this one to the VA thrift store!
