R-TV Box R10 (1)

The R-TV R10 Rockchip RK3328 Quad Core Android 7.1 4K TV Box is one of the few boxes to come in circular shape, something we have not seen in a long time. This box also has couples of things different than other TV boxes. The R10 is the previous version of the S10, and this model has more RAM included than the first model that was released. So in this review I’ll feature its hardware and I’ll also be revealing some pros and cons about this box.

The vents for this box are located on the sides and none at the bottom, this did not aid in keeping the box cool because temperatures hang around 50 – 75° Celsius   of 122 – 167° Fahrenheit. It is also difficult to use Passive cooling fans on this box as all the vents are on the side and not the bottom. The power button is located to the top of the box and it is also has the power LED light Incorporated into it.

Software Environment

The R-TV Box R10 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system. The interface is smooth and responsive, however, the launcher does not come with a navigation bar and status bar for multitasking and easy navigating to and from various applications. The firmware is not rooted, which prevents users from installing and using apps that require root access to work like mirroring apps and key mapping apps which are important apps for TV boxes when playing android games.

The can install all known movie streaming applications like Kodi, Netflix, Terrarium TV, IPTV services, YouTube and other. The YouTube application however can only play up to 1080p quality. 4K videos play just fine, with the box being able to play all my 4K video samples. Gameplay was OK and of a high quality, just be mindful of the overheating situation.
