H96 Pro TV Stick Review

We have seen many TV boxes in the H96 Pro line and today we have the H96 Pro TV stick review.  At first, I was a bit skeptical about the performance of this TV stick, the correct term is dongle, but I like calling it a TV stick. In this review, you would see how the H96 Pro TV stick scores and performs during the various test, is there any loss in performance compared to the TV box version.

What’s Inside the TV Stick

I don’t know how they managed, but the H96 Pro TV stick runs on the same hardware as the TV box version. It runs on the Amlogic S912 octa core CPU, running up to 1.5GHz on the 64bit system with support for 32bit and 64bit ABI’s. Its 3D graphics and 4K display, is powered by the ARM Mali T820 tri core GPU, running up to 750MHz, with a refresh rate of 60hz. It comes with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It comes with single band 2.4GHz WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Software Environment and Entertainment

The TV stick runs on a rooted version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. The TV stick comes preinstalled with a selection of social media, movie streaming and core system apps. It comes with a custom version of Kodi called KDMC, which is a Kodi 7.3 build. It comes with Miracast for casting content from your mobile device directly to your TV. The TV stick comes with Appinstaller for side-loading apps in APK format. The launcher is the same launcher used in all of the H96 Pro boxes so the interface is smooth and easy to use.

Gaming Experience

Now like I said in the video the TV stick is not really meant to be a big gamer, however, after playing some games suited its hardware, I was surprised that they played with any problems. However, I advise not to go overboard with the games, as the TV stick was not designed for gaming with ample cooling for that kind of activity.

Summary and final thoughts

So the H96 Pro TV stick surprised me and performed better than I expected. I like how it comes rooted, the launcher is the same launcher used in the TV box models, it has a navigation bar at the bottom, and it runs on Android 7.1 Nougat. It plays 4K videos like the TV Box version, and it can play some games. The KDMC Kodi build works well, you can watch unlimited streams of movies and TV shows via KDMC and APK downloads.

    • You can’t get it because it’s not available for download. It comes as part of the firmware. But why need KDMC, just install the latest Kodi from the Google play store
