Software

The Pendoo X10 Plus runs on a Rooted version of Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. They managed to design the launcher to look like Android TV OS, but it’s not, it’s a full version of android with a custom skin theme. You can use your own custom launcher as the box allows to to do so without problems. The launch comes with Google voice search and YouTube voice search but it is not Google assistant like what you have on Andriod TV OS. If you use a voice remote on this box it will work. The box does not have a navigation bar or notifications bar.  The Pendoo X10 Plus comes with an Air Screen app that provides Miracast, AirPlay, and DLNA and they all work fine. The box does not have the required DRM support for Netflix to show in HD and 4K, however Netflix does show in standard quality on this box and it is very watchable. The box open so can uninstall every app in the apps section and install your own apps. But be mindful, the the Netflix app that comes on the box and the one found on the Aptoide app store  are the only ones that work. The version from the Google play does not work on this box, so leave the Netflix app alone.  Caution! do not try to install or update SuperSU as it will brick your box.

4K Video Playback and 3D Gaming

The Pendoo X10 Plus does a really good job when it comes to 4K videos playback. I have a list of 4K videos all at 60fps and the box was able to play most of the ease with just two having a little difficulty. I really like the gaming experience on this box. First of all the Mali G31 has been doing well for 2019 and every box that it comes in has performed really well. Another great feature of this box is that game pad key-mapping works well on this box allowing me play any touchscreen Android game. The box does rise to about 60 during gaming, and if you apply a cooling fan it maintains around 50°C.

  • Sling Shot  – 500
  • RAM Copy – 3708.18 MB/s
  • ROM Speed – 113.04 MB/s Read. 64.70 MB/s Write

Final Thoughts

After testing this box I came to the conclusion that the Pendoo X10 Plus is the number 2 box right now in the S905X2 category. It has great performance and benchmarks, Streaming movies an TV shows works great, 4K video playback is OK, and 3D gaming is really good with gamepad key-mapping capability. The only thing that really bothered me on this box is the lack of a navigation bar and notifications bar. Other than that that is the next best S905X2 TV box to buy after the X96 Max, but I believe the 64GB model will match the X96 Max’s performance.

  1. I bought this box and I tried to burn a new firmware to it. But the usb burning tool stopped with this error:
    Romcode/switch result/Identify/Error result

What this mean? How can I burn a firmware into it?

    • It means that the box has low LAN bandwidth speed 100Mbps and not a GB Ethernet LAN.
From my videos you will see lots of boxes having this problem.
